Steve was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Jenks High School.
He attended Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, graduating in 1991 with a B.A. in History.
After getting married and working a few years, he began law school at Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated in 2000. While in law school he served as Associate Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly and graduated as a member of the Order of the Coif. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
Steve is married and has four children. Steve and his family are members of the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ. Steve formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Pregnancy Center of Bryan County, as the commissioner of the Durant OK Kids Baseball League, and as Vice-Chairman of the board for J127 Ministry, Inc.
